In this work, Lenin summed up the development of world capitalism in the half-century that has passed since the publication of Marx's Capital. Based on the laws of the origin, development and decline of capitalism discovered by Marx and Engels, Lenin for the first time gave an in-depth scientific analysis of the economic and political essence of imperialism. Lenin's work is a further development of the Marxist theory of capitalism, enriching it with the doctrine of its highest and final stage - imperialism. Summarizing the new phenomena in the economy of world capitalism, Lenin showed the inevitability of aggravation under imperialism of all the contradictions inherent in capitalist society.
