The Spanish philosopher José Ortega y Gasset (1883–1955) is one of the most famous Western thinkers of the 20th century. His ideas in the field of philosophy, history, sociology, aesthetics influenced certain circles of European and American bourgeois intelligentsia. Ortega did not deny either the content or the social significance of art, on the contrary, in the great works of the past he tried to find a figurative embodiment of the historical fate of the nation. Supporting avant-garde artistic experiments, he valued in them primarily a protest against the bourgeois vulgarization of art, against the influence of naturalism. The collection includes the main works ("Dehumanization of art", "Rise of the masses", "Man and people", etc.) ), written in different years, they allow us to trace the evolution of the philosopher's thought
