Composed of works dealing with heterogeneous issues, the book is nevertheless united by a central theme, which can be roughly formulated as follows: any book (or, at least, most of those books that are worth reading at all) implies ("models") a certain reader. Eco introduces the term "Lettore Modello" (literally "reader model" or "reader model") and sometimes, following J. Joyce, talks about the "perfect reader". It will be useful to anyone who wants to look into the "creative laboratory" of the famous scientist and writer, as well as those who follow the current state of the humanities. This is especially true for disciplines such as semiotics, information theory, general and modal logic.
