For a researcher who deeply studies a number of problems raised by Goethe, his work has not lost its relevance and today their value for the history of science is undoubted and very significant. But, in addition, Goethe's scientific works are of great interest for understanding him as a poet and thinker, and it must be frankly said that he who does not know Goethe the naturalist, of course, does not know him enough as an artist, and cannot know him. From Goethe's legacy, voluminous and far from equivalent from the point of view of our time, I tried to choose the most significant and interesting for modern science and for the history of science, as well as for Goethe's understanding as a scientist and naturalist thinker. I had to confine myself to the morphological works of Goethe and the most important part of his teaching on color.
