The book at the modern level outlines the basics of the theory of elasticity, starting with the consideration of general concepts and laws of mechanics of a deformable solid, obtaining and analyzing defining equations and ending with solutions to basic problems. The book covers only a part of the sections of the theory of elasticity: the Saint-Venant problem, the flat problem and the axisymmetric loading of the sheaths of rotation are discussed in detail. Particular attention is paid to the simplicity of the presentation of the defining equations of the theory of elasticity and the problems that reveal the features of the stress-strain state of structural elements .. The presentation of many sections is accompanied by examples and tasks all solved problems are brought to final formulas and are of interest for the practice of engineering calculations.
