This book addresses contemporary issues in the theory of piecewise-homogeneous bodies, plates, and shells with defects. It presents algorithms for determining the coupled mechanical and electrical fields in piezoceramic plates with cracks and inclusions. The text develops macromodels of fibrous composite materials featuring anisotropic and piezoceramic components. It also explores the effects of crack arresting by reinforcing ribs in reinforced plates and shells. The approaches discussed are theoretically grounded and culminate in the numerical implementation of the developed algorithms. Research findings are presented both analytically and through tables and graphs that illustrate the relationships between mechanical and electrical fields, as well as stress intensity factors at the tip of defects, in relation to the nature of anisotropy and the geometric and stiffness parameters of the medium.
