The songs of the French poet and composer Georges Brassens (1921-1981) and our compatriot Vladimir Vysotsky (1936-1980) fully realized the rich artistic possibilities of the folk song tradition of the two countries. At the same time, the work of these two poets with great strength and depth expresses the main problems of existence of their era. The brochure contains a general description of the role of these poets in the modern culture of the two peoples and examines those aspects of their work that reflect the most important features of the worldview and moral searches of modern man. The songs of Brassens and Vysotsky received a particularly powerful resonance, affirming the dignity of the human person, exposing falsehood, hypocrisy as characteristic symptoms of corruption of social mores and violence as a dangerous social vice that threatens the future of humanity.© Zaitsev V.N., 1990
