Vladimir Alexandrovich Kozhevnikov (1852–1917) was a prominent Russian cultural historian and publicist. His book "Buddhism in Comparison with Christianity" represents the culmination of his religious and philosophical inquiries. This work is based on public lectures delivered by the author at the Medvednikov Gymnasium in Moscow and at gatherings of the Circle of Seekers of Christian Enlightenment during 1908-1909. Before presenting these lectures, Kozhevnikov engaged in an in-depth study of the biographies of Buddha and the comparative religious literature of his time.
