The holy books of Thelema form the basis of the spiritual tradition laid by the great mystic and magician of the 20th century Aleister Crowley. Their role in Thelema is as great as the role of the Bible in Christianity or the Koran in Islam. Followers of the tradition believe that they were not created by the genius and intelligence of Aleister Crowley, but recorded by him by inspiration from above and through contact with higher beings. Crowley saw his prophetic mission in helping a person to realize his own destiny in the world (the True Will) and to understand that it fully (according to the principle of the hologram) coincides with the Divine Will - in other words, with the force that drives us and the whole Universe. Realizing this, a person connects with God and, freed from his personal ambitions, becomes God himself.
