The book, from the standpoint of the spiritual values of Russian civilization and modern science, comprehends the essence of the global ecological crisis that struck our planet as a result of a predatory, consumer attitude to nature. In a popular scientific form, the basics of general ecology in the Orthodox sense are given, the historical and philosophical aspects of the history of the interaction between man and the biosphere, the current world situation in the field of environmental protection are considered. The author concludes that the main cause of catastrophic changes in nature is the Western civilization, orienting humanity to a predatory consumer attitude to nature. The way out of this difficult situation is to appeal to the spiritual values of the Russian Orthodox civilization, which serves as a guarantor of the spiritual and ecological balance on Earth.
