The manual for students of historical faculties of pedagogical institutes is written in accordance with the program of the course of historical regional studies . It shows the history of the formation and development of local studies in our country, its role in the communist education of young people. The main section of the manual is characterized by sources of historical local history: archaeological, ethnographic, monuments of architecture and art, written and oral sources. The main techniques and methods of using local history material in history lessons and in extracurricular work are covered. The purpose of the manual is to equip future teachers with the knowledge and skills of organizing and conducting historical and local history work, to increase their educational and cultural level.
