The latest results of long-term observations of the Sun in X-rays. It is shown that the statistical characteristics of solar flares correlate with the phase of the solar activity cycle. An analogy between the flare activity of the Sun and red dwarf stars of the UV Ceti type is discussed It is emphasized that the relationship between the flash activity of the star and its magnetic field is not unambiguous.
