Service-oriented architecture (SOA) is an application architecture in which components or 'services', having agreed common interfaces, use common rules (contracts) to determine how to call services and how they will interact with each other. Currently, this technology is becoming more widespread in many areas of the IT industry due to its main advantage: the ability to offer an effective approach to solving one of the most complex and pressing problems - the problem of integrating information resources. Combining the advantages of SOA with the capabilities of Grid technologies will allow the integration of not only local, but also geographically distributed information resources.
