The works of the Moscow Mathematical Society were founded in 1951. and . M. Gelfand and O. N. Head . These were annually published collections of mathematical works with a volume of 30 printed sheets. The purpose of this publication was to create opportunities for the publication of large articles of a monographic nature, in particular doctoral dissertations. The large number of works that existed at that time, the publication of which could not cope with the "Mathematical Collection" and "News of the Academy of Sciences", and the high demands of Gelfand quickly made the Works one of the most authoritative Soviet mathematical publications.
