In 1705, on the instructions of Peter I, the book “Symbols and Emblem” was printed in the printing house of Heinrich Wetstenium in Amsterdam. Its circulation for those times was large: at least 800 copies . The whole book consists of engraved copper drawings of emblems and symbolic images, in the amount of 840 (excluding 8 used in the design of the title page), and a description of them.
