Frogs, toads, tritons are permanent objects of the wildlife corner. Without a frog, it is impossible to imagine either the teaching of zoology and physiology in secondary and high school, or the work of a huge number of research institutes. However, literature on amphibian biology, where a teacher or student can learn about the lifestyle of this class of animals, is almost completely absent. The need for a manual in which a teacher could find information on the ecology of our amphibians is obvious. This book is based on lectures given by prof. A. G. Bannikov since 1947 . the Moscow City Pedagogical Institute . The book is mainly devoted to the biology of amphibians of the USSR. For the reproduction of tropical species, only some information is given, without which it is impossible to give a general idea of the specific features of this class of vertebrates. Since this book is the first experience of summarizing information on the biology of our amphibians, it is not without flaws and shortcomings, but the authors hope that criticism and comments from readers will help to further correct these shortcomings.
