Reproduced by photomechanical method from 1869 edition. In the list of scientists L. 3. Budagov's best, withstood the test of time, was a "comparative dictionary of Turkish-Tatar dialects?", which left a deep trace in the history of Turkic lexicography. A comparative dictionary of Turkish-Tatar dialects requires an explanation, which we find in the preface (?From the author?), where it is said that in the dictionary a group of dialects (languages) of the most common ones is compared... ? and what should not be concluded from this title that the author wants to pass off his work as an interpreter of all the dialects (languages) of the Turkic root?. Sources of Vocabulary:1) Eastern dictionaries of Turkic languages (both explanatory and translational);2) Turkic-European dictionaries;3) some works of A. Navoi, Babura, Abu al-Ghazi, et al. ;4) records of Turkic folklore and t. p. Based on these sources, the dictionary L. 3. Budagov is a very valuable assistant in reading old, Turkic literary and historical works, especially those written in the so-called Chagatai language.
