Textbook written by a team of Soviet and Czechoslovak authors . The purpose of the textbook is to teach students to read original fiction and socio-political literature, to possess colloquial speech and skills of bilateral interpretation and translation. The textbook is designed for two to three years of study (approximately 350-400 hours). The textbook consists of an introductory phonetic course, a basic course and a Czech-Russian dictionary of 3,500 words. The texts of the lessons cover various everyday topics; the textbook also uses the works of Czech authors. The manual includes many different exercises. In the 2nd edition (1st - 1973) part of the texts was replaced by more informative ones, some exercises, lexical-grammatical explanations and grammatical notes were reduced and somewhat reworked.
