The dictionary fully presents the dialectal vocabulary and phraseology of all Russian vernaculars of the XIX - XX centuries . For the Dictionary are also interested in those Russian dialects that are in a foreign-speaking environment, since such dialects may retain features that are lost or poorly reflected in the main Russian dialect array. The dictionary is based on direct observations of living popular speech, recorded both in the past and in our time. Works of oral folk art are also used, which contain many vocabulary features of local speech.
