The manual, designed for first-year psychology students, includes five lessons designed for thirty hours of classroom instruction. The authors set their task to teach students to read, understand and adequately translate English texts of average difficulty in the specialty, to instill in them the skills of educational reference and oral communication on professional topics. At the center of each lesson is a text on one of the sections of general psychology . Active vocabulary of the lesson, characterized by a high frequency in the psychological literature, is fixed during the performance after textual lexical-grammatical exercises. Also included are exercises on individual word-formation models and exercises to control the degree of formation of skills in various types of speech activity. Completion of work on each lesson includes retelling the main provisions of the text, discussing individual points on the topic of the lesson; lexical and grammatical testing
