Kokeshi is a traditional wooden toy. According to one version of its origin, kokeshi were funeral dolls. They were placed in peasant houses when it was necessary to get rid of newborns, since the parents would not be able to feed them. This is associated with the interpretation of the word “kokeshi” - “forgotten child”. The story was published in the “Collection of kwaidans”, Selena-Press, 2009.
