The philosophy of the Israeli defense program has four aspects. First: due to the need to avoid destruction and casualties among the civilian population, the war cannot be waged on Israeli territory. Second: Israel must seize and maintain the initiative during combat operations. Third, wars should not be prolonged, since Israel cannot afford to engage in prolonged hostilities, since they could have a detrimental effect on the fragile national economy. Fourth: Israel cannot afford large losses among the personnel of its armed forces. D. Laffin's book examines in detail the formation, organization and military operations waged by the Israeli army from 1948 to 1973. The text is accompanied by unique photographs. Color illustrations were prepared on the basis of wartime documents and give an accurate idea of the uniform of the Israeli army. The book is addressed to a wide range of readers who are interested in the history of the army and military uniforms.
