Although it was far from the most produced bomber of World War II (12.677 B-17s were built, while 18.188 B-24s were built), the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress has come to symbolize strategic bombardment during World War Two. Most of the literature, and all of the movies about WWII bombers star the B-17. Award winning movies such as Command Decision, Twelve OClock High, The War Lover, and Memphis Belle all featured the Flying Fortress.
