In 1964, Schnurre was struck down by severe paralysis, and the writer spent about a year and a half in bed, fighting - once again - with death. He later called his recovery his fourth birth. - Bedridden for many months, Schnurre became especially addicted at this time to radio and television, for which he wrote a lot before. Now these genres have almost completely captured his creative attention - along with books for children, which he himself illustrated. And the short stories themselves, under his pen, began to turn more and more into dialogues and skits, which were created both for reading and for playback on the radio. The woman also wins in the story “Turning Around,” which touches - again and again - on the most important for Schnurre the theme of the “unsurmounted past”. The husband admits to his wife that his conscience has tormented him and he is going to inform the justice authorities about his fascist past and the crimes committed at that time. A long domestic - but so socially important - bickering ends with the husband's unconditional surrender: no, he will not go to declare himself, yes, he will go on holiday with his wife to Mallorca.
