The life story of Marshal of France, Duke of Auerstedt, Prince of Eckmuhl Louis-Nicolas Davout. An aristocrat who became an admirer of the revolution, Davout was distinguished by his unselfishness, personal courage and extraordinary self-control in moments of danger, rare for a marshal. He had encyclopedic knowledge and extraordinary mathematical abilities. In 1812, during the Battle of Borodino, his horse was killed under him, Davout himself was wounded, but continued to command the troops.
