In the section “From the Classics of the 20th Century” we are talking about the outstanding American poet William Carlos Williams (1883–1963). Translation and introduction by philologist Anton Nesterov, who, among other things, refers to the characterization of W. C. Williams by another American classic, Wallace Stevens (1879–1955), that Williams’s poetics is built on “the combination of what appeals to our feelings - and at the same time anti-poetic.” Regarding Williams’s last book, posthumously awarded the Pulitzer Prize, “Pictures According to Bruegel,” A. Nesterov notes: “... this is Bruegel seen through the optics of “after Picasso.” Here is the story by W. C. Williams “With Force.”
