“Phoenix Kaleidoscope” is a unique publication that brings together experimental works of short prose. The works are characterized by a plot depicting dark events and disasters, tragic changes in human consciousness, gripped by fear and losing control of itself. They are characterized by an ominous, depressing environment, a general atmosphere of hopelessness and despair. The mysticism of these works is due to the author’s desire to unravel the metamorphoses of the human psyche and to understand its secret properties and pathologies, revealed in “anomalous” conditions. The categories of space and time occupy the most important place in the artistic structure of works. In some, the space is closed and limited, the person in it is cut off from the world, and as a result, he himself and his consciousness become the object and subject of close analysis. In others, the physical closure of space is replaced by a psychological one. The hero’s consciousness is still divorced from the world and concentrated on himself; his very existence is felt as a prologue to disaster, death. The category of time is often not tied to a specific chronological or historical moment. The moment of existence, realized on the eve of catastrophe or death, is depicted, which is both compact and limitless. It contains not only the agony of the dying consciousness of the hero, but also his entire story: the flow of experienced emotions and memories.
