A brief summary of the work (opening the spoiler - you only have yourself to blame!) Archeoscript
The story "Archaeoscript" by Vasily Berezhny "(1970) begins with how an unusual aircraft was shot down over one of the American military bases in the Sahara. The pilot who survived his fall arrived on Earth from the constellation Lyra from the planet Branch. This strange name was given to it by the first settlers who arrived on it from Earth... 50,000 years ago! Then there were two highly developed civilizations on the planet - Centrum, which occupied the territory of several continents, and Atlantis, located in North America. These two great powers destroyed themselves in the crucible of nuclear war, but Centrum left behind a huge repository of all the knowledge of both civilizations - the Archeoscript, which was now located somewhere deep in the sands of the Sahara. Tuo - that’s what the pilot called himself, after he learned our language, after he was interrogated by military and civilians, doctors and psychiatrists, and no one believed in his “fairy tales”, considering him an ordinary saboteur, he despaired of proving that he was right. He, along with the nurse Anita who fell in love with him, uses hypnosis to escape from a guarded psychiatric hospital, and begins to secretly manufacture a space-time engine in order to return home. The military, having learned his whereabouts, send an “archaeologist” to him, who offers Tuo his services in search of the Archaeoscript - a giant pyramidal cube that hid all the knowledge of ancient civilizations. A well-organized expedition went to Africa and eventually found there an Archeoscript, from which Tuo only removed information about the theory of quarks - the weapon that destroyed Centrum and Atlantis. And with the help of the engine he completed, he, along with Anita, disappeared from the Earth...
