The first attempt to generalize information on military art on the state of military-theoretical thought in the middle of the 19th century Labor anticipated the famous military encyclopedia edited by Leer. The book, published in 1837-1852, examines all the most important campaigns, provides information about the armed forces of Europe and Asia. At that time it was the most complete military encyclopedia published in Russian. The encyclopedia consists of 15 volumes, which are all presented in this version. The release of the encyclopedia was warmly welcomed by the Russian cultural community.
