The famous English evolutionist and science popularizer Richard Dawkins, about whom Chemistry and Life has written so much, is not only the author of the theory of memes and a passionate supporter of the Darwinian theory of evolution, but also an equally passionate atheist and materialist. Charles Darwin in one of his letters noted half jokingly that to tell about the rough, blind and cruel creative activity of nature could only be “the book of the Devil’s Servant”.
