While the 'nature' which Aristotle announces as the subject of his Physics bears little resemblance or relevance to modern scientific concepts of nature, his treatise dominated science down to the age of Galileo and remains of crucial importance to the historian of the philosophy of science. Ross's edition of the Greek text is accompanied by an introduction, analysis (printed continuously following the text), and commentary. In his substantial Introduction, Ross discusses Aristotle's natural philosophy at some length, as well as describing the structure of the work and details of textual sources.
